Ranking Rules
A fighter’s ranking is determined by a diverse set of criteria detailed below:
🏆 Understanding the Ranking Rules for Fighters 🥊
Welcome to the comprehensive breakdown of the Ranking Rules! Whether you’re a fighter or a fan, these rules ensure fair and exciting competition by blending skill, performance, and consistency. Let’s explore how rankings are calculated with exciting details and examples! 🎉✨
🌟 Starting Strong: Initial Points
Every fighter begins their ranking journey with 10 points after their first professional fight. 📈 This ensures a level playing field, where each athlete has the same opportunity to rise through the ranks based on their performance.
🎯 Points Calculation: Fight Outcomes Matter!
Rankings are influenced by regular fights and tournament performances. Fighters gain or lose points based on:
1️⃣ The outcome of the fight (win, loss, or draw).
2️⃣ The caliber of their opponent.
3️⃣ The method of victory or defeat (decision or (T)KO).
Here’s how it works:
🥇 Winning by Decision:
- Against a Higher-Ranked Opponent:
- 🏆 Points Earned:
2 + 15% of opponent’s points. - Example: If the opponent has 100 points, the winner gains 2 + 15 = 17 points. 🎉
- 🏆 Points Earned:
- Against a Lower-Ranked Opponent:
- 🏆 Points Earned:
2 + 8% of opponent’s points. - Example: If the opponent has 80 points, the winner gains 2 + 6.4 = 8.4 points.
- 🏆 Points Earned:
🥊 Winning by (T)KO:
- Against a Higher-Ranked Opponent:
- 🏆 Points Earned:
3 + 20% of opponent’s points. - Extra Points:
- 0.5 points if the fight ends in Round 1.
- 0.3 points if the fight ends in Round 2.
- 🏆 Points Earned:
- Against a Lower-Ranked Opponent:
- 🏆 Points Earned:
3 + 10% of opponent’s points. - Extra Points:
- 0.4 points if the fight ends in Round 1.
- 0.3 points if the fight ends in Round 2.
- 🏆 Points Earned:
🤝 Draws:
- Against a Higher-Ranked Opponent:
- 🏆 Points Earned:
0.5 points.
- 🏆 Points Earned:
- Against a Lower-Ranked Opponent:
- 🏆 Points Earned:
0 points.
- 🏆 Points Earned:
❌ Losing:
- To a Higher-Ranked Opponent:
- Points Lost:
15% of total points. - For (T)KOs, the penalty reduces to 8%.
- Points Lost:
- To a Lower-Ranked Opponent:
- Points Lost:
20% of total points. - For (T)KOs, the penalty reduces to 10%.
- Points Lost:
🏆 Tournaments: Bonus Points for Progression
Fighters competing in tournaments gain points based on how far they progress:
- 🥇 Winner: Gains 2 points.
- 🥈 Runner-Up: Gains 1 point.
- 🤝 Semi-Finalists: Gain 0.5 points each.
This system rewards fighters who thrive in high-pressure environments! 💪🔥
⏳ Timeless Points: Expiry of Inactivity
To ensure rankings reflect active competition, points gradually expire over time:
- 1 Year of Inactivity: Fighter loses 0.08% of total points.
- 2 Years & 1 Day of Inactivity: Fighter loses 0.18% of total points.
- 4 Years & 3 Days of Inactivity: Fighter loses 0.38% of total points.
💡 Key Insight: Consistent participation keeps rankings robust and competitive!
🔍 Other Influencing Factors
1️⃣ Opponent Caliber: Facing stronger opponents yields higher rewards, while fighting weaker opponents comes with less risk.
2️⃣ Method of Victory: (T)KOs and submissions carry more weight than decisions.
3️⃣ Skill Progression: Rankings take into account whether a fighter is improving or declining over time.
4️⃣ Performance Impact: Even in losses, fighters who perform exceptionally may still gain respect and rankings.

Are you ready to climb the rankings? The ring is waiting! 🥊🔥
The ranking is based on the performance of a fighter. During the ranking year, ranking is determined by winning or losing so-called ranking points.
- Fighters can earn points through regular fights, and tournaments
- In a regular fight, the winner scores points equal to 2+15%(8%) of opponent points, or 3+20%(10%) for a (T)KO
- If a fighter loses to a lower-ranked opponent, he loses 20% of his points or 10% for a (T)KO
- If a fighter loses to a higher-ranked opponent, he loses 15% of his points or 8% for a (T)KO
- In tournaments, fighters score points for how far they progress. In a four-man Contender tournament, the winner scores 2 points, the runner-up 1 point, and the two semi-finalists 0.5 points each.
- To keep the rankings accurate, the points steadily expire over the next four to six years, or earlier if the fighter exceeds a cap of ten fights in that period.
- A fighter’s ranking is determined bythe calibre of competition they are facing
- A fighter’s ranking is determined by the method of victory or loss of their fights (decisions, knockouts, submissions, etc.)
- A fighter’s ranking is determined by overall skill level and progression of skills (declining or ascending)
- A fighter’s ranking is determined by fight performance, regardless of final outcome
Each (T)KO will earn the fighter an extra:
- 0.5 points with a higher-ranked opponent if it’s in 1 round
- 0.3 points with a higher-ranked opponent if it’s in 2 round
- 0.4 points with a lower-ranked opponent if it’s in 1 round
- 0.3 points with a lower-ranked opponent if it’s in 2 round
In addition to the match regulations, there are also ranking regulations; see the table.

A fighter’s ranking is determined by a diverse set of criteria detailed below:
- A fighter’s recent activity over the last 20 years of competition.
- The calibre of competition they are facing.
- Method of victory or loss of their fights (decisions, knockouts, submissions, etc.).
- The overall skill level and progression of skills (declining or ascending).
- Fight performance, regardless of final outcome.
Does inactivity or suspension have any impact on a fighter’s ranking?
NO. Fighters on suspension, not due to injury, are ineligible for the RK rankings. Once their respective suspension ends, if a fighter still has activity within 15 months they will return to rankings.
How often are your rankings updated?
Rankings are updated after each major event.
Holding a promotion’s title does not guarantee that fighter will be viewed as the best in their promotion.
How do you rank fighters if they lose due to a controversial decision?
Controversial decisions are another story.
There is a distinct difference between a close fight and a robbery. If a fight is close and could have gone either way, judges’ decision, still results in the winner being ranked higher. If it is a complete robbery and nearly all other Kickboxing websites scored the fight towards the losing fighter that is taken into account in the rankings.
Why not have CT Rankings, DFS Rankings, or SK rankings?
Despite those promotions possessing solid talent rosters, there is simply not enough demand to produce rankings. Users can filter World rankings or view Non-RK Rankings.
Removed from the rankings?
Any fighter who tests positive for a performance-enhancing substance will also be removed from the rankings.
Weight Class
Fighters will be ranked in the weight class that their promotion regularly lists them at. That means Local Kombat fighters, who compete at a weight class one division above their counterparts in most other organizations (i.e. flyweights fight at 135 pounds, lightweights compete at 170 pounds, etc.) will be placed alongside fighters in the same listed division.
| Heavyweight | 95+ |
| Light Heavyweight | 91-95 |
| Super Middleweight | 86-91 |
| Middleweight | 81-86 |
| Welterweight | 77-81 |
| Lightweight | 70-77 |
| Featherweight | 65-70 |
| Light Featherweight | 61-65 |
| Bantamweight | -61 |
Any new PROMOTION Champion will have the option of defending the title within the first six (6) months of their reign.
After six (6) months a title defence will be mandatory. If a Champion had not made a defence for more than twelfth (12) months they will be declared inactive Champion, they would have no choice but to defend against the first qualified challenger.
If a Champion had not made a defence for more than eighteen (18) months the PROMOTION can declare the title vacant without giving notice. If a current champion wins the title in line (e.g. if a national Champion wins any European title) the lesser title will be automatically vacated.
